Who is The Educator Now!?
When we started this foundation we fully anticipated that it would be a vehicle to help educate parents, students, and caregivers. What I didn’t anticipate was that others would then become educators themselves and even more intense is that one of them would be my beautiful niece Breanna Horner. She chose the topic of child sexual abuse for her senior project, inspired by mine and her mothers history of abuse. When you click on the link you will be viewing the project that she put together, edited and presented! She did an amazing job and I was moved to tears and inspired beyond words when I viewed this and I hope you are too! This is how change happens! Think of the number of students she touched because she chose a topic that has typically been hush hush! Thank you Breanna – we are so proud of you! This is our first student project! Hmmmmm! We save lives with these kinds of efforts! We protect children! We preserve humanity! There is no better time than now! https://youtu.be/zNZJullssoc

The Epic Post
I struggled for a moment to figure out what was going to be the last of the 30 blogs in 30 days, for Child Abuse Awareness Month???!!! I felt that in some way it had to be EPIC! The FINALE! The CLOSING! I continued to think and think and think and decided to just walk away from the topic in my mind grabbed my phone and opened up Facebook to do some thumb sifting through posts and there it was! It wasn’t epic [well it sort of is] or any of the above but a clear understanding that if you ask the universe for something [so I could complete this blog] you will receive it. It was a Facebook Memory showing up ~ a post from 4 years ago. I took a screenshot [as you can see] to post, as it represented exactly what THIS is all about! When we speak our stories, provide information, educate and connect with others through the process – even if we do not know the people we are reaching – GREAT things happen! That is what the past 30 days of blogs have really been all about – providing information – sharing stories – educating. Read the post and ENJOY!

Involving the Business Community – Forked River Rotary Club
Yesterday the Humanity Preservation Foundation had the distinct pleasure of presenting to the Forked River Rotary Club at their weekly meeting held at the Captain’s Inn in Lacey Township! After lunch was served, Co-founder and President of HPF Rhett Hackett presented to the group what the foundation is all about including statistics, efforts, and challenges. Why is this type of presentation so important? The Rotary Club is made up of business owners and when we can get local businesses in a community to be behind us and supporting the efforts to heal victims from the effects of interpersonal violence and the efforts to educate to stop it – great things can happen. As community based efforts come together that is how we can protect our children. In this effort, we hope that business owners will then invite us in to speak with their employees in an open forum such as a “lunch & learn” and educate on the topics. Do you have a speaker need? Looking to have someone come into your place of employment or a club that you are involved in? Let us know and we would be happy to set something up to come and speak at your event or office!
