For the 3rd year in a row, and also in coordination with C.H.O.P, I had the pleasure of giving a presentation to first year medical students at the Perelman School of Medicine (University of Pennsylvania) on the topic of child sexual abuse (CSA). Each year it is my favorite group to present to and I love working with the doctors that coordinate the lecture. Educating future medical professionals on this topic, discussing the long term effects of CSA, and providing the opportunity for an open forum of Q&A is what takes awareness to action items. It also helps prepare them in the event they are the first to be told an individuals history of abuse. Additionally, we were able to discuss the reporting process, child advocacy centers [like the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance] and how that all works. The greatest compliment came after the lecture when a student came to me and said ” they appreciate text book learning and lectures but nothing stays with them more then to hear personal stories and be able to ask questions to a real person”! A clear reminder of answering life’s calling and the power we all have to change lives! ~ Rhett Hackett – President/Co-Founder

Our Visit to the Small Business Expo in Philadelphia
The Humanity Preservation Foundation was excited to attend the Small Business Expo at the Philadelphia Convention Center on March 19, 2015. As it provided an opportunity for Zachary Weintraut to speak with small business owners from across the country in order to spark interest in these small businesses to support our organization and the work we do in supporting victims of abuse and prevention education. Of course it provided us a great opportunity to swap business cards with those small businesses and established communication lines for future partnerships.
Thank You Gloucester Township-Pine Hill Rotary
Humanity Preservation Foundation wishes to thank the Gloucester Township-Pine Hill Rotary Club for inviting us to attend their weekly meeting that took place at the Lamp Post Diner. The presentation at the Rotary Club meeting were kicked off with a presentation by Zachary Weintraut, a Development Associate who coordinated with the Rotary Club to give our presentation to the group. Then Rhett Hackett providing statistical information as well as tactical approaches to preventing said acts from happening to children. What has HPF been up to?
HPF has been busy! We wrapped up the spring with a final presentation to first year medical students at the University of Pennsylvania for the second year in a row. This group is a dynamic collection of students educating themselves to get into the medical profession. Discussing the topic of child sexual abuse is important because they will be one of the people on the front line either examining a child that has been assaulted or working with an adult that has a history of child sexual abuse and still living with the horror associated with the abuse. In addition to all of that, we have been working on the legal processes in launching a legitimate, solid, and operable foundation. This has included working with our attorney in filing the proper paperwork, and meeting with advisors to help us be the very best we can. HPF is happy to announce that on October 14, 2014 we received our official letter from the IRS and announce that our application for our 501c had been approved making us an official “Not for Profit – Tax Exempt” foundation! (see our video) This means that when a person makes a donation to our foundation they can write the amount off as a deduction when they file their income taxes! This opens the door for us to approach corporate sponsors for funding and apply for federal grants! What is next for HPF? As we continue to launch here are just a few key items you can expect to see happening here at HPF; Vigorously seeking corporate donations and sponsorships. We will be seeking volunteers to assist with our various efforts. Saturday, October 25, 2014 we will be speaking at the 2nd annual safety summit for women and children hosted by Philadelphia DA – Seth Williams.
